Welcome

Welcome to the Federation/Klingon Rapid Response Fleet.

The Federation/Klingon Rapid Response Fleet was founded by Admiral James Mackenzie and Krang epetai Inigan with the cooperation and support of Fleet Admiral Isis Portway, Chancellor Martok and the president of the United Federation of Planets

The Fleet had its beginnings in the later half of the Dominion War when James Mackenzie, then a captain, in command of the USS Endeavour teamed up with a Klingon ship, the IKS Hegh'Ta under the command of Krang epetai Inigan. Inevitably, due to crew losses, there was a mixing of crew across the two ships and many of the policies which have made the RRF unique, were formulated during this difficult time. After some initial misunderstandings, the Federation and Klingon officers worked together so well that both governments decided that the experiment should continue. For the next three years, the USS Endeavour flew with the Tenth Fleet of the Klingon Defence Force.

Then, in 2378 Captain Mackenzie was promoted to the Admiralty and the Rapid Response Fleet came into existence, with just four ships, the USS Endeavour and the USS Prometheus representing Starfleet and the IKC Hegh’Ta and the IKS Ch’Tang for the Klingon Empire. The experiment proved successful and two years later, in 2380, four more ships joined the RRF. As the fleet expanded and its duties grew, a need was identified for better medical facilities in the field and in 2381 the medical ship USS Nightingale was assigned to Starbase 24. A year later, the USS Archer joined the Fleet bringing the total number of vessels to its current size of ten ships. A further Klingon vessel may also be added to the Fleet in the near future. It is hoped that in years to come, the Romulan Star Empire will also be represented within the fleet.

All the ships participating in the RRF were chosen carefully for their speed and manoeuvrability as well as their fire power, evacuation capability and the abilities of their captains and crew.

The fleet is stationed at Starbase 24, a strategic location on the Federation/Klingon border and not too far away from the Romulan border.

Standard Starfleet rules and regulations apply throughout the ship. However, due to the unique nature of the fleet, some additional guidelines have been implemented

Fleet Access

An “open door” policy is in effect across the fleet. All crew members are welcome on all ships and may make full use of the facilities found there. Crew visiting other ships should remember to log in and out so that their whereabouts is known in case of emergency. It should be noted that some areas on ships may be restricted and crew members should not attempt to enter an area for which they do not have clearance.

Uniform Requirements

Any crew wishing to wear non regulation items with their Starfleet uniform must apply to the captain for permission. This includes, but is not limited to, items such as Bajoran earrings and Klingon d’k’tahgs.

Families

Due to the high risk nature of the work undertaken by the fleet, families are not permitted on board, except while the ship is docked. There are good facilities on Starbase 24 or Frontera and it is suggested that any crew member with family, apply for quarters there. A school has been established in Frontera City for the children of serving Starfleet officers and offers excellent educational standards as well as having both long and short term boarding facilities.

Pets

Allowances will be made for a limited number of pets. Any crew member wishing to bring pets on board should apply to the captain for permission. All pets must be neutered and have up to date vaccination certificates.

Rank Recognition

As the Rapid Response fleet is a joint Federation/Klingon operation, all crew are expected to wear both Starfleet and Klingon rank insignia on their uniforms.
Both Starfleet and Klingon Marine officers may wear Marine Corps rank insignia but are also expected to wear the equivalent naval rank insignia.

Shift System

Unlike the majority of Starfleet vessels, the USS Endeavour operates a four shift system. Each shift overlaps the following shift by two hours. This is to allow crew members time for training and development.

Recreational Facilities

The facilities on board the Endeavour are available to crew of all ships within the fleet. However, it should be noted that during the two hour overlap period of each shift, the holodecks are reserved for staff training and development.

A wide selection of classes are available. Information on these may be found on the bulletin board or see the Recreation officer for further details.

The Ten Forward Lounge is an informal area where the wearing of uniform is not required, neither is it necessary to address officers by rank.

Holographic Crew

The USS Endeavour has two holographic crew members, the Emergency Medical Hologram (Nathaniel) and the holographic bartender (Bart). Both have been on active duty for several years and are to be treated with the respect due to any other crew member.
